Nadia Demonstrates How to Put On an Ostomy Appliance/Bag

May 1, 2010

One of the biggest challenges when having an ostomy for the first time is learning how to take care of your stoma and to apply the ostomy bag. This demonstration video walks through my way of putting the appliance on. This is not the only way this is done. Each person will have their own tricks and method. This is just a basic tutorial with tips on what worked for me. For the sake of demonstration, I used a mock stoma model as I no longer have my ileostomy.

QUESTION: THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO CHANGE AN OSTOMY BAG. DO YOU HAVE TIPS OR TRICKS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THAT WORKED FOR YOU?

Question: With your surgeries, have you had any of the complications that I talk about?
