C3Life Blog: End of the semester and home for the holidays
December 29, 2012I finally finished my work for the semester! I’ve left Florida and am now back in North Dakota for some much needed rested before starting school again in January. This semester ended up being very difficult health-wise, so I’m grateful to have made it through.
For those keeping track, I’m 3 semesters in to my PhD program: and have 3 semesters to go. I’ve been studying health communication, in particular, how people with chronic illness connect with each other using new media.
This semester I took my standard 3 classes, and was a teaching assistant for 2 classes, but also ended up working on my dissertation proposal one semester early. The document ended up being 90+ pages, so it was a ton of work. In addition, I went to a communication convention and worked on several journal articles, and this was all in spite of continuing health problems.
Keep fighting,
~Dennis

I’m glad to hear you have your pouchitis under control. Thanks again for all you do with this site, and best wishes for a Happy New Year.
I know how you feel with all the school work. I was going through that myself the last couple of years as I worked during the day and went to school at night. It’s tough to hear about the pouchitis as well…I hope everything works out for you.
Dennis, thanks so much for update and insight it has helped us all learn and grow
And people that struggle with this nasty disease and find no real cures!
I’m sorry you have struggled this semester,
Certainly that seems a but unfair after everything you have gone through.
Keep fighting and keep posting, it really has made a real difference in my life!
Sincerely,
