Video Glossary: What is an enema?

Question: Have you used enemas to treat your IBD? If so, how well did they work? Reply to this post! You don’t need an account or anything!

  1. I tried the rowasa mesalamine enemas, and they seemed to work pretty good for a while. During a particularly bad flare, they stopped working so well, so my doctor switched me to steroid enemas. They also seemed to do the trick for a while, …then stopped working again.

    Personally, my disease beat out medications every single time, but I felt like the medicated enemas were fairly effective and took the medication right to the source of the problem.
