  1. I have an older pouch, an S pouch. I’m told that a J pouch has fewer complications.

    • Hi Sondra,

I’ve also heard J-pouches have fewer complications, but then again, I just met somebody who had surgery a few years ago and they made her an S-pouch because they J-pouch wasn’t an option based on her anatomy.

Have you had any issues with your S-pouch?

      Dennis

  2. I had the procedure done for stricture and now I am needing it again only 2 months later for my J-pouch. Do you have any additional info on this condition Dennis and have you experienced this complication? My Doctor tells me I may need to have 3-4 procedures in an effort to aleaviate this problem. It is so painful I have to be put under in order for him to do it. Are there any other alternatives? I really value your insight on all the colon topics. Thanks, April

    • Hi April,

I’m sorry you’re having these issues. Unfortunately I don’t know much about strictures or how they are treated. I know best conditions I have experienced myself. What has your doctor told you so far and what does the procedure look like?

      Dennis

  3. I have a j pouch.I had this procedure done around 7 years ago.I get alot of pussy sores around my anus, that come and go, lately they are coming more frequently. Is this just a symptom of chrones?,or is something alse going on?

    • Hi Marie,
I’m not sure what those sores could be. People with J-pouches frequently go to the bathroom more than other people, so maybe it’s just irritated skin? Or it could be something more serious. At the very least you should give your doctor a call and let him/her know what’s going on. I know it’s embarrassing to ask such questions but it might be important.
