First case of pouchitis

January 4, 2010

I mentioned I had pouchitis in a video a couple weeks ago. This video gives the full story. I talk about what pouchitis is, why I thought I had it, and what the treatment for it was. This video ends when I was still taking medicine. At some point in the near future I will update everybody how the lasting effect of the medicine I took.

Keep fighting,
~Dennis

  1. I liked your story of pouchitis, thanks for sharing. I just discovered this sight toay. I am 22 years old, got my j-pouch at 20, UC at 19, but suffered for 2 years before being diagnosed. Up until 3 months ago, I was constantly taking Cipro or Flagyl for several months (until I had an allergic reaction to Flagyl) for pouchitis. I would take a round, and a couple weeks later be right back where I started. I am like you and would always feel great right away. Finally I discovered taht taking metamucil really helps to keep my BMs formed and me feeling lots better. Now I havn’t had to take Cipro since October. It’s great. Just a little tip to try. Also on a sidenote, it says not to take a multivitamin because Cipro inhibits the absorption of them, expecially calcium. It won’t do you any harm, it just won’t do you much good, either. :)
    Keep sharing,
    Jill
