You should try Abena or DryCare http://www.xpmedical.com/. I have a number of inflammatory auto-immune diseases that leave me totally incontinent (some times both bladder and bowel if it is really bad) during flares. Predinsone usually takes care of the Crohns after about a week or two but causes horrible bed wetting! Anyone else have this problem at night while on cortical steroids?

I never had to wear diapers with UC. However, since my takedown I have been wearing them. At 38 years old it felt really depressing but it was nice to have the security of having that safety.
I've used diapers for many years to help manage my Crohn's disease. The underwear-style ones are fine for everything but major accidents. They help contain and control the small leaks I have almost daily, and my skin is much healthier than it used to be. Plus, I no longer have to rush home and change my pants.

Finally admitting to myself that this is the best solution for me has significantly improved the quality of my life. I don't digest fat or oil, so I leak all of the time.

Hi Pam,

I'm not sure if there's a better brand. One viewer told me that Pull-Ups work really well, the largest size they have available, but those would only work if you have a very small waist for an adult. I'm not sure if there are other brands of adult diapers.

I am 53 and starting to wear depends alot. My problem is that if a problem occurs they don't hold everyting in. So I am still unable to go shopping etc. Is there a better brand I don't know about? Very frustrating. I don't mind wearing them but they are not enough for me. I seem to be in constant flair up these days. I must not be changing my diet enough. It is a tough illness.

I'm 41, and have had UC since 19. I have to travel in a car to meetings sometimes several hours away with several other people in the vehicle. Never had an actual explosion, but they have definitely absorbed some liquid stool leakage that I was unable to control despite my best efforts. I'm not sure if anyone knows what I'm wearing or not, and I actually don't even care, but the security and peace of mind they provide far outweigh the downside potential. I'm not ashamed at all, and if someone questioned me about it, I'd tell them more info than they asked for. In fact, I feel you *owe* it to the people around you to wear a diaper if there's the potential of a messy accident. No one wants to see/smell you sh*t your pants. That's my two cents. Anyone who cares to can email me at azbikerboy@hotmail.com
