Six Month J-Pouch Update
June 29, 2009It’s been six months now since my takedown surgery, and everything is working as it should. Again, I have no complaints about the surgery.

I have followed your video clips since day one of your J-Pouch journey. Your message has been great help and inspiration for me, as I have similar journey with my reversal on June 8th,2009.
Everything has progressed well except for past week. I am now having night time leakage… causing me to have poor night sleep….keep hoping I won’t have another accident while asleep.
Any advise?
Otherwise I am healthy 70 year old male…. took this route as cancer preventative

Hi Doug,
I know a little about what you are talking about at night. Sometimes I had a little leakage, maybe 10 times in six months. What I started to do was wear feminine absorbent pads in my underwear when I went to sleep. That way if I leaked a little and woke up I could throw the pad away and go back to sleep. I never leaked that much so they were sufficient. I would wear the pads until the leaking stopped and then go without.
Also, not eating right before bed and occasionally using Imodium or other stool thickening medicine at supper time can help with the problem too.

Thanks for your suggestion……I’m now using pads as you suggested… I am sleeping much better….
Something I installed on our existing toilet is a Go Bidet toilet bidet system. I installed this prior to my 1st surgery. It is wonderful, I use it after every BM and then just pat dry w/toilet paper. I recommend this to every J-Poucher. Easy to install and it works. I purchased it on-line.
