Two days with my J-pouch
April 13, 2009For everybody wondering what a day with my j-pouch looks like, check out this video. I spend two days with my j-pouch, marking every bowel movement. This video was done after three months with my j-pouch, so it should give you an idea what to expect from your j-pouch three months out from your takedown surgery.
Keep fighting,
~Dennis
Question: Does the frequency of these two days with my j-pouch bother you or is it something you could live with? Reply to this post!

Hi Dennis,
It sounds like you are doing well overall.
I was wondering if you us Immodium regularly? What about Metamucil? Also do you see an impact from what you eat?
Thanks!
Marianne
Hey Dennis, I love this resource! Thanks for everything.
Quick question from a soon-to-be J-poucher…when you say your J-Pouch is “full” does full mean uncomfortable? I’ve been trying to get a grasp of what a J-Pouch will feel like, and am wondering if it’s the same kind of feeling as an ostomy, only inside of you. Is this an accurate assumption or not?
Hi Adam,
It doesn’t really feel like an ostomy at all. An ostomy you can only really feel the stool coming out, and can kind of tell its volume based on weight. When I say my pouch is full, it is a little uncomfortable but mostly it feels like the old days of having to have a bowel movement. I know it is very full based on experience, such as knowing how long it takes to fill up, what sounds it makes when it is full compared to empty, and how much pressure it puts on my anus.
