My throbbing colon
January 14, 2009My throbbing colon was part of my struggle with ulcerative colitis. Perhaps you know what I am talking about. It bothered me that it throbbed like this because I knew that wasn’t normal. And it was a constant reminder that I was sick. I don’t know if my colon did this because I was skinny or if because I was really that unwell.
Keep fighting,
~Dennis

Hi Dennis,
I had my colectomy on Nov. 14th, 2008. I remember the strange noises my colon made and the horrible pain that it gave me. I don’t remember it throbbing but the day after my surgery my surgeon came to visit me and she asked me how I was feeling. I told her that when I still had my diseased (pan colitis) colon I could feel every inch of that awful colon. Now that it is gone I can feel where it is not. She said that not too many people experience that. It has been 2 months now since surgery and I can still feel where my colon is NOT. Good riddance!!!
Wow my throbs too sometimes… and it goes with the beat of my heart too. It’s such a weird feeling.
Since having my final take down surgery I have experienced the throbbing of my intestines. I really is depressing to me because I haven’t had these issues for over 15 years with the Ulcertive Colitus. Now having the surgery to eliminate the threat of cancer I find myself feeling like I have gone back in time when first diagnosed with UC. My take down surgery has only been 3 weeks old so I am trying to be patient and loving toward my body at it adjust but I feel as though I have to give voice to that part of me that is frustrated as well. Thanks for the great information.
I know exactly what your talking about I am recovering from chemo induced colitis and my colon throbs too my guts sometimes feel hot to the touch when it throbs. I completely understand the fear your talking about I spent 2 weeks in the hospital on bowel rest with tpn only. And anytime things started changing with my bowels or having cramping it made me feel like I was getting sick again it’s very scary for me cause I don’t know anyone who has been through what I have and am going through. With your colitis did u have back pain too?
